Whole Food, Plant-Based Recipe Spicy Ketchup

This spicy ketchup is great on just about anything. So many ketchups are loaded with sugars — this is, of course, sugar free.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup tomato paste

  • 2 T date paste
  • 2 T water
  • 1 T apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp liquid smoke
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp each of garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, ground cloves, and black pepper

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes.

Chef's Notes

I highly recommend refrigerating the ketchup overnight to give the ingredients time to meld together.
