Whole Food, Plant-Based Recipe Everyday Oats

Sometimes, breakfast can become a complicated decision. We want something easy to prepare, nutritious, and delicious. This everyday oats recipe offers all those benefits plus versatility — pair it with the fruits and nuts of your choice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole oats

  • 1 cup plant-based milk (can be substituted with water)
  • ⅓ cup of raisins (can be substituted with dates, cranberries, or prunes)
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1 T almond butter (optional)
  • Hemp seeds and/or flaxseeds (optional)

Instructions

1. In a pot, bring the plant-based milk or water to a boil.
2. Add the oats, raisins, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
3. Continue boiling, reduce heat, and stir as needed.
4. Check the consistency. If you prefer less dense oatmeal, add a bit more plant-based milk or water. Cook for 5 minutes.
5. Pour the oatmeal into a bowl and add fruits of your choice: berries, bananas, etc.
6. Optional: Add almond butter or other nut butter. Sprinkle with hemp seeds and flaxseeds.
