Whole Food, Plant-Based Recipe Black Hummus – A Halloween Treat!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked black garbanzos (set a few aside for decor)

  • 4 medium garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup lemon juice and zest
  • ¼ cup black tahini
  • 6-7 T ice cold water
  • For decoration: Sesame seeds, a few of the black
  • garbanzos, thyme, tomatoes
  • Add 1 tsp ground cumin (optional)

Instructions

1. In a blender or food processor, purée the chickpeas into a thick paste.
2. Add the lemon juice, garlic, and zest.
3. While the processor is running, add the tahini. Slowly drizzle in the ice cold water. Keep processing for at least 4-5 minutes.
4. Serve with cut vegetables for dipping, or spread on a dark piece of pumpernickel or rye toast. Have fun and be creative!
