Power Up Your Restaurant with Plants

Plant Powered Plates is a free program of Plant Powered Metro New York,
developed with support from the GrubHub Community Fund.

Draw in a wave of new diners looking for dishes that feature whole plant foods.

Plant-based eating has shifted from a fad to a substantial food trend, fueled by growing awareness that eating plants is good for our health and good for the planet. Yet as more people set aside animal foods for plants, they’re confronted with an abundance of highly processed plant-based ingredients in the marketplace — and at restaurants. All these ingredients contribute to rising rates of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity in our communities. We can do better.

With a few simple changes — using many of the ingredients you already have — you can add new menu options without sacrificing taste or increasing costs.

Our team is here to offer guidance and, where needed, culinary training to add dishes to your menu that make plant foods the star of the plate. And we’ll make sure diners know about it through creative marketing and PR!

Why Go Plant Powered?

Give diners a reason to say “yes” to your restaurant.

When you become Plant Powered, you’ll be making accessible options for all diners: from those who follow a healthy plant-based lifestyle to vegans, vegetarians, people on special diets for their health, or just the “plant-curious” — and anyone else looking for a lighter meal. Join us in creating healthier, happier communities!

What Does it Mean to Be Plant Powered?

Participating restaurants offer at least one main dish, appetizer, and dessert made with whole plant foods, as well as a dairy milk alternative and an oil-free salad dressing.

These dishes are made with vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fruit, nuts, and seeds. They don’t include animal products — meat, dairy, and eggs — and are prepared with minimal oil, salt, and sugar. In these preparations, the nutritional quality and natural flavors of the plants stand out.
